![]() ![]() January February March April May June July August September October November DecemberAPRIL 2007April came and April passed, again my attempts to build traffic yeild in about the same earnings. Althought things do not appear to be moving as fast money wise, in April I planted a few more seeds that will hopefully grow into a shrub or perhaps a tree. I have had some small victories, but it seems it is me against Google/Yahoo rankings and they move about as fast as a large company making a decision. You make a change one day and they recognize the change 3 weeks later. April has been a busy month and I have several updates to report. But first, lets get the earnings report out of the way, here goes. Click for full screen ![]() Website Development in AprilNew Lyric SiteIn addition, I purchased a database of Lyrics from Oddity Software and imported thoose songs into my SQL databse so this new site is starting with over 200,000 lyrics! It has been added to Google's, Yahoo's and MSN's index but I am not ranking in the results yet which is expected for a new untrusted site. If the lyric site were to ever rank well, I feel this will be a great income booster as related to my adsense earnings. If you visit the site, I do have 2 other affiliates displaying ads along with Google's Adsense. The ads are blended really well with the site, now I just wait for the traffic....I have not received a click on this site yet. New Baby Name SiteUpdates on the PrePaid Legal SiteUpdates on the Texas Mud Offroad TrailsThe second update was an article about a monster rincon, which suprisingly according to my Asrep stats, is bringing in new traffic as well. I would love to concentrate more on articles, but given my current circumstances I dont get out much! One thing I would like to see increase with txmud.com is the quality reviews, I have people are really not that motivated to share infomration, I expected this to take off and it really has not yet. Other than that I have also added many ATV Events, that seems to be popular and I am beginning to get many request from folks in texas to add their Event. Updates on the Texas BBQ siteBuild that SEOHow I found my ideal keywords is through Word Tracker. Yes it did cost $27 for a week, but hopefully now that I have these list printed out it will assist me in going for thoose highly searched items with the least competition out there. Last month I suggested Overture for Keyword searching, but upon using wordtracker I realize the results from overture are not accurate and perhaps skewed, I would not invest any money on the information that it provides. Be sure to have your keywords in the title, in the domain, as alt tags to your images, and listed in your content as many times as possible. They also have some neat list like the 1000 most searched terms and some other neat tools. I have also began to pay more attention to the meta tags of my webpages, making each page different, and pertinent to the content. Google Meta Tags and you will find some good reads, although Google does not pay that much attention to them, I feel this is one of the reasons I rank well on MSN. Another important thing that I have done is upload a robots.txt file to the root of all my websites to tell spiders they are free to absorb all the content on the site. It also give you an insight how often and who is spidering your site through your web hosting statistics. The only text you need in your robots.txt file is: User-agent: * and that tells the spider visitng that it can search the whole site with no restrictions, you can also use the file to further restrict it, but why would anyone want to do that? Another free serivce that could possibly build into an excellent SEO tool is Free Relevant Links. You put 5 text links on your site, and through their software other sites began linking to you. The longer you use the service, the more one way links that will build. I am currently using this on this site, the lyric site, and the Legal site. So far, I have received one link, but this will build over time. Adsense Graphs![]() As far as Pageviews go, I may still have a slight upward trend going in my direction through April which I hope to continue. ![]() Project Mad Dog CostThis is just a quick list of cost I have incurred so far:
Total $1182 In closing for April, although it seems not much progress has been acheived as far as earnings and pageviews. It was still an important month, not only because of the additional sites implemented but also because of how much knowledge that was acquired. I want to thank anyone that may be following the project, feel free to give me a shout with any questions, my email is patrick@greatadsense.net and we will talk to you in June with the results from May! Take me back to the March stats!
